Challenge
Northwest Mothers Milk Bank (NWMMB) has been serving the Pacific Northwest’s most vulnerable infants since 2008, connecting donor milk with babies in critical need. When I began partnering with them over five years ago, their website wasn’t effectively supporting their dual mission: recruiting milk donors and securing financial supporters. The site suffered from redundant content, underutilized pages, and outdated visual design that didn’t reflect their professional, life-saving work. With limited nonprofit resources, NWMMB needed a strategic partner who could help them maximize their digital presence to reach both donor audiences.
Approach
I led a research-driven redesign that started with understanding NWMMB’s dual audiences: milk donors and financial supporter, and their distinct needs. Through stakeholder interviews and user research, I identified key friction points in the donor journey and information gaps that were hindering conversions.
My strategic approach focused on creating clear pathways for each audience type while streamlining the overall information architecture. I restructured the sitemap to eliminate redundancy, designed intuitive user flows that guided visitors toward donation actions, and developed a refreshed visual identity that elevated NWMMB’s credibility while maintaining warmth and approachability. Working within expected constraints, I prioritized high-impact improvements that the team could maintain long-term without extensive technical resources.
Outcomes
The redesigned site has become a critical tool in NWMMB’s mission to serve vulnerable infants across the Pacific Northwest. By creating clear donor pathways and streamlining the user experience, the site better supports both milk donor recruitment and fundraising efforts… essential to sustaining their life-saving work.
Over five years of partnership, I’ve evolved from website redesign consultant to trusted creative partner, supporting NWMMB through brand development, photo shoot art direction, print collateral, and ongoing digital strategy. I conduct regular site audits and user research to ensure the digital experience continues to meet audience needs as the organization grows. This long-term relationship demonstrates the value of embedded design partnership with mission-driven organizations.

Northwest Mothers Milk Bank has had the pleasure of working with Christine for over five years. She helped us to strategize, rebrand, and update all of our collateral so that it is clear and cohesive.
