For over a decade, I’ve partnered with nonprofits and mission-driven organizations to expand their impact through strategic design and digital presence. My pro bono work focuses on organizations addressing social justice, food systems, environmental protection, and community empowerment, causes where thoughtful design can amplify critical missions with limited resources.
I approach nonprofit partnerships with the same strategic rigor as commercial clients: leading discovery research, developing scalable design systems, and prioritizing accessibility and long-term sustainability. Below are select projects that demonstrate this commitment.
FARMER2FARMER
A nonprofit association of community cacao farmers in Colombia needed a digital presence to reach international tourists and expand their sustainable cacao business. Through the USAID-funded Farmer-to-Farmer program, I partnered with the association to develop a bilingual website strategy that balances e-commerce functionality with educational storytelling about organic cacao production.
I led the design and development of a website that showcases their cacao tours, workshops, and products, creating clear pathways for both tourist bookings and product sales. The site prioritizes mobile-first design for on-the-ground accessibility while serving international audiences seeking authentic agricultural tourism experiences.
Status: Launched in 2023, this project was part of the Partners of the Americas Farmer2Farmer Program. The program ‘support farmers and agribusiness professionals in developing countries to improve their livelihoods and food security. Farmer-to-Farmer sends U.S.-based volunteers on technical assignments to provide hands-on training to communities, cooperatives, agribusinesses, and educational institutions’.
PROTECT THE FALLS
As a previous Central Montana community member and coalition member, I support Protect the Falls, a grassroots organization opposing an industrial-scale slaughterhouse that threatens local waterways, air quality, and public health.
I led a complete rebrand of the coalition, designed public awareness campaigns, and rebuilt their website to serve as an information hub for community members and policymakers. The digital strategy prioritizes fact-based education about environmental and health impacts while maintaining clear calls-to-action for community involvement.
Status: Ongoing advocacy work, active coalition member since 2021.
Womxn For Change
As an advisory board member for Womxn For Change Coalition, an emerging nonprofit led by women of diverse backgrounds dedicated to inclusive community empowerment, I lead their brand development and digital strategy.
I’ve developed their core brand identity and created a comprehensive asset library that enables the growing coalition to maintain consistent, professional communications. Current work includes refining their brand ecosystem and developing a web presence that recently launched in the Fall of 2025, that supports their mission to create spaces where diverse women can succeed authentically.
Status: Advisory board member, development in progress.
RELAY RESOURCES
Relay Resources cultivates meaningful employment for people with disabilities across the Portland area. They needed to redesign their Careers section to better connect job seekers with opportunities while meeting WCAG accessibility standards, critical for their audience.
Through stakeholder interviews and user research, I developed an accessible UI strategy that aligned with their brand while clearly presenting job categories and benefits. I restructured the information architecture to reduce cognitive load and created a component system that allowed their team to independently manage job postings. Beyond the Careers work, I refined their storytelling approach to better highlight employee success stories and team leadership.
Status: Launched 2023, continues to serve job seekers with disabilities.
SARC Oregon
SARC Oregon’s mission is to eliminate sexual violence through education, support, and advocacy. After 40 years serving the community, they needed a website that better connected survivors with critical resources.
Following a logo refresh exercise, I partnered with their executive director to restructure the site’s information architecture, prioritizing immediate access to crisis services and support resources. I designed and implemented a WordPress solution that honored their trusted SARC acronym while modernizing their digital presence. The flexible CMS structure enables their team to independently maintain and update content as services evolve. They still use some of the initial structure in their most recent website design.
Status: Original site launched in 2015 and continues to serve survivors across Oregon within a different ui.
Montana Food Hub
Montana Food Hub is an emerging agricultural cooperative connecting Montana growers with restaurants, institutions, and consumers. As a founding consultant, I led the complete brand development, from naming and visual identity through initial digital presence and go-to-market strategy.
I established the cooperative’s brand positioning as both a distribution hub and knowledge resource for Montana’s diverse agricultural community. The initial website serves as both a platform for producer-buyer connections and an educational resource about local food systems. As the cooperative expands into value-added production and business incubation, I continue providing strategic guidance on brand evolution and marketing.
Status: Active consulting partnership, launched 2021.
CORE PAWS
Core Paws was a volunteer-run animal rescue specializing in hard-to-place animals nationwide. I designed and built a website that served as their primary adoption platform, featuring individual animal profiles with storytelling elements to help prospective adopters connect emotionally with special-needs pets. The site balanced emotional appeal with practical adoption information, helping the organization place dozens of animals before the nonprofit sunset operations in 2019.
Status: Wrapped operations after six years in 2019.
Christine is a talented website designer, well versed in both the visual and technical aspects of site building. She was instrumental in making the Relay Resources website more relevant and accessible to people with disabilities. Her talent extends to other areas of design as well. She’s an excellent project manager, a skilled problem solver, and is always a pleasure to work with. We are fortunate to have had Christine supporting our team!
