Pro Bono Projects

FARMER2FARMER

A non profit association of community cacao farmers in Columbia specializing in organic cacao production, education, and services, needed assistance in expanding their presence online. I created a website where the association called Guardabosques de la Sierra, can showcase products for sale, as well as cacao production tours and workshops. The first iteration of the website is designed to incentivize tourists to the area to book a cacao tour and discover products available for sale.

This project was part of the Partners of the Americas Farmer2Farmer Program. The program 'support farmers and agribusiness professionals in developing countries to improve their livelihoods and food security. Farmer-to-Farmer sends U.S.-based volunteers on technical assignments to provide hands-on training to communities, cooperatives, agribusinesses, and educational institutions'.

RELAY RESOURCES

Portland based non profit Relay Resources mission is to 'cultivate meaningful work for people with disabilities.' In an effort to meet their audience of potential folks looking for work, they needed to address the Careers section of their website. Prioritizing accessibility, and drawing from a series of interviews, I provided a strategy and a ui design for the Careers section of the site. The ui approach aligns with Relay's brand guides while displaying the categories of job opportunities they provide and the benefits that come with.

In addition to the Careers section, I worked to refine some existing components and strategy around storytelling to better highlight Relay's employees and team directors.

CORE PAWS

Core Paws was a 501c3 non-profit, 100% volunteer-run organization. They served hard-to-place animals, helping them to find homes and live happy lives. I designed a website where they could showcase these special animals from all over the country, share their stories, and help find them homes.

PROTECT THE FALLS

In Central Montana, the county of Cascade Montana has been at a looming risk of becoming home to the largest, multi-species, industrial scale slaughterhouse in the country. Forever affecting the waterways, air, public health, and overall quality of life, as a member of this community, I made it a point to learn more and reach out to the Protect the Falls coalition – a coalition I am still a member of today. Our goal is to inform the public of the facts and science behind a project this big, as well as keep them up to date on any news, movement (or lack thereof) on the project. I rebranded the coalition, designed campaign initiatives and updated their website.

SARC OREGON

Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC) of Oregon's mission is ' to promote social justice by eliminating sexual violence in our community through education, support, and advocacy'. After an initial logo rebrand exercise, I worked closely with the previous executive director to provide a sitemap and website strategy to better organize their information and prioritize getting their services to clients. Sustaining their 40 year old trusted and reliable acronym (SARC) in the rebrand, I provided a WordPress redesign and structure they continue to use and update.

Montana Food Hub

I am a consultant for the Montana Food Hub, providing branding, naming, and marketing exercises and initiatives. Working directly with the commissioners, I branded the cooperative, stood up an initial website, and will be addressing marketing goals as the cooperative's needs change and expand.

From the Montana Cooperative Development Center press release: "Montana Food Hub will act first as a distribution point for local food, connecting growers in Montana to restaurants, food businesses, institutions and consumers, initially through an online platform. They aim to be a hub not only for food, but for knowledge and resources around food as well. Future expansions will also include value added production space, and food business incubator opportunities. Montana's agricultural landscape is rich and diverse, yet producers often encounter obstacles in reaching consumers and wholesalers, MT Food Hub's mission is to empower producers while satisfying consumer demand for fresh, locally grown foods. The Montana Food Hub represents a pivotal step towards a more resilient and sustainable food system."
